Kept the Pier Hotel (Tavern) at the time of the election. He had retired by the time the trial took place. This is now Dunkerley’s. Received £5 for committee room, £6 for canvassing and £96 to distribute between 32 voters. 3 of which paid by Mr Woodruff – Wellspring, Nash & Abbott. At the time of the trial he was living at 13 Victoria Road.

Over the course of his time in Deal, Hayman, an estate agent, variously held positions of Town Councillor, Alderman, Mayor and Justice of the Peace.
