Received £15 for a committee room which he described as rather large – his ‘coffee room’.

He was married to Jessie Palmer on Feb 9th 1880 in St George's Church by Revd Bruce Payne. His father William Foster was a farrier and Jessie's was a schoolmaster.

Situated on the eastern side of the promenade, the Royal is the last remaining property on this side of Beach Street. It was numbered 53 at the time.
